So in my last blog I wrote how I was going to blog (or try to) everyday while on vacation in Hawaii. That did not happen. I can name 100 of things that did not happen in 2020. But thats not what this is about. This blog is going to be about all the beautiful shit we did do in 2020.

Not getting bogged down by the negative bullshit that makes us focus on everything thats wrong with our day to day. Instead i’m going to share my achievements and so should you - because we need to be proud of ourselves after this past year.

First and foremost, I’m super proud that I booked that vacation a couple weeks ago. My mind and body were ready to give up. I was no longer present - it was the perfect amount of realignment time for me.

Outside of that I made a list two days ago of the things accomplished in 2020 (in no particular order) :

  • Commissioned 6/7 paintings throughout the year. I know that doesnt sound like a lot, but one every two months while i’m juggling the below is a lot!

  • Started a podcast! I’m so excited and ready to get back to An Untold Narrative this weekend

  • Protested for BLM and also donated over 1200 personal dollars and 3500+ total after donations from friends to the Equal Justice Initiative.

  • Surprised my mom in May for mothers day during the heat of the pandemic. It was amazing to see my parents after 3 months of being locked away from one another.

  • Painted for myself. Creating works of art to explore creative that i never knew i had

  • Wrote in a journal for 4 straight months during quarantine. Stacks of 8.5x11 pieces of paper lol. Im going to try to transition this back to online format

  • Said thanks during the day. Over the years I’ve lost faith in everything - i don’t know what I believe in or dont believe in. But I believe in being thankful for the things we have.

  • Met new people even during a pandemic and being quarantined. Primarily through starting a Tik Tok; which should be a bullet within itself.

  • I golfed a fuck ton this summer and it was glorious. I cant imagine how much money I spent but the escape it provided was so necessary

  • I turned 29!!! LFG

  • My brother David Mawdsley visited during August to go on vacation with me

  • Built a fucking brand - Devonshire. A cut and sew project that im so proud of. Can’t wait to launch seasons 2 and three in 2021.

  • I enjoyed my apartment complex. I know this is something stupid, but I live a very fast lifestyle and am always moving. This pandemic allowed me to enjoy the amenities of my apartment complex. I sat by the pool and enjoyed breathing and the sun in the summer time.

  • Most importantly I, and everyone I truly know is healthy and alive.

I’m sure theres more but thats what I got. As I wrote this i’ll write my next blog tomorrow about all the things I’m going to do this upcoming year. Stay tuned.

Cheers -

DF
